Why Pakistan became a failed state?
Partition of Indian subcontinent into a secular India and a Mullah- Molwi dominated society clearly show how theocracy can destroy a country.
Before partition, Punjab got dominated by ideas of Muslims mainly from UP, in India, who were in minority in their own areas. The innocent Punjabi Muslim fell prey to them because of religious reasons. Punjabi Muslims were made to consider that their culture is inferior to cultured (tahizbyafta) UP, and so Punjabi even disowned their own mother tongue. An atmosphere and culture was created where Hindi became language of Hindus, Punjabi of Sikhs and Urdu of Muslims. This further sowed the seeds of discontent between various Punjabis. Punjabi Muslims were in majority in Punjab but they got disillusioned and a strong wave started against non Muslims in Punjab. Even when Pakistan was announced they burned the houses or minorities and destroyed the established institutions, without considering the fact that they are destroying a part of their own future country.
The minorities were given three options: either get converted or get killed or move out. No body in their ruling elite thought that, when Muslims are in majority in the areas of Pakistan, what difference will it make if some more people are added to their religion?
Out of three options some non Muslim got converted, some got killed but the majority, which was controlling most of the institutions, trade and commerce, left the country. Whereas most western countries want to have the best brains the new rulers in Pak. caused the migration of best brain drain to India. These refugees with their skill, intelligence and experience not only developed the backward areas of India, where they were forced to settle but got absorbed in the local communities and brought prosperity to India.
In return Pakistan received semi-skilled low level immigrants from India, called Muhajirs, which in the earlier days of their arrival occupied the property left by non- Muslims but could not add much to the economy of the country by their talents but rather became a dividing force.
This is the one reason, other reasons are also there.
